Id like to know does anyone here have any experience with idealabs cyproheptadine? Any input on dose, side effects ect would be really appreciated.

I want to learn more about this. I believe it could help more with my sleep issues. I have ridiculous on and off histamine issues. But I just don't wan to fork over big money to ADC and wait a month to get this.

I found it pretty good to break a stress cycle that went on for a few months. 2mg gave me restless legs for the first few nights but ended as soon as my mood lifted.

Glad it helped you, bro. I agree, cypro should be in every person's drawer/cabinet in case of unforeseen stress (and who does not get it these days;-?) A tablet is 4mg, the standard size for the OTC tablets used as a 2 generation anti-histamine (for people with seasonal allergies and such) For me a 0.5-1.0mg (1/4-1/8 of a tablet) works magic in making me sleepy and relaxed. The best time to take it around 6PM, since it takes some time to hit you. When I used to wake up at 3 AM, lying around not falling asleep for an hour, take 0.5mg cypro at around 4 AM, then stay awake for another hour or two, and then the tablet hit me around 5:30-6:00, fall asleep only needing to wake up at 8AM to go to work. And then at work, you are sleepy, since it's still acting on you, until 1PM and maybe even more. So take it early in the evening if you feel your sleep may get bad that night.
Also, try not to use it more than 3 nights in a row, you get used to it and if stopping your sleep will suffer. The withdrawal will take 3-4 days to fully disappear.
Melatonin gives me restless legs like crazy. I only use a small dose of it if any, due to restless legs.

@griff I use small amount of it along with the pill form for sleep and occasional stress issues. I agree with @shell_inspector, everyone should have it in the medicine cabinet. It can literally be life saving, if needed but it is powerful and will make you very sleepy at first so dose slowly and small doses.

I just remembered last night how much cyproheptadine (idealabs) has helped me in the past with my IBS and histamine symptoms, so I took 0.5 mg around 6pm. By 9pm I could not keep my eyes open. I usually sleep at 12am. So I had a coffee to keep me alert, to no avail. I succumbed to sleep at 10pm to 7am and had so many dreams. Today I feel a bit lethargic. I understand the sleepy side effect goes away with prolonged use though.

if you don't use it more than 3 days in a row there is no need to worry about withdrawal from it correct? or you can see the difference the following night even if it is taken once?

Dan from CowsEatGrass had a fabulous write up on it. It might be behind a paywall now. "Feeling Very Periactin."

He had taken it for a year and came off with no issues.

I personally came off of it with no issues after a few weeks.

No I try to take is as needed only. I know Ray prefers it to be taken as needed and not regularly - also at small doses.

Georgi tolerates larger doses of it without lethargy.

it seems like $9 are required to read that article.

what is the dose you were taking everyday for weeks? I tried last night with I believe .5mg, I have a 4mg tablet to split, it didn't knock me out, but I felt it, I slept better and today I was feeling better, sleepy/lazy though but that is what I needed

Did you end up trying this? And this might be a stupid question, but is idea labs cypro oral or topical?

I've only had experience with Idealabs Cyproheptadine.
I've tried it both, topical and oral. 10 times more drops if topical.
When needed, I just drop 1 or two drops in my tongue now.
Even with 1 drop, the lethargy is felt for a day or two afterwards.
I think Dan from CowsEatGrass was taking the tablets but not sure of dose. Reach out to him perhaps, it would be great if he'd join this forum.
